Pine Rivers Budgerigar Society
Established 1989
The Pine Rivers Buderigar Society was formed in 1989 by a small group of fanciers who identified the need for a Budgerigar Club in the Northern outskirts of Brisbane.
Over a cupper one evening, Bill Silvertand, Phia Silvertand, Ronnie Jones and Phil Cooper started what is today one of the most successful budgerigar clubs in South East Queensland.
During those formative years, the club developed a reputation for the mateship that existed within the club. It was the aim of Bill Silvertand in those early days to help nurture the new club, and he always went out of his way to help anyone from beginners to the experienced breeder. On most weekends it would be commonplace to see a steady stream of breeders rolling up to Bill and Phia's for a chat and a look through his avairy.
The club has progressed and grown from those early years but still has the reputation of being friendly and welcoming to all visitors. It now boasts new facilities for tableshow nights and it's annual shows, and with a dedicated committee and members will be a strong club well into the future.
